I have come to the not-so-startling conclusion that I am a terrible blogger. I am not positive there are any set "Rules of Blogging" but I imagine one post a month is probably not kosher?
The holidays are finally upon us. I say 'finally' because, I have been wanting to play holiday music in my classroom for about a month and a half now and am just starting feeling comfortable to do so. As with every year, I find myself being obnoxiously happy at about this time. It's not an adult, grown-up cheerfulness either; but more of a giddy, little kid eagerness? I am excited to watch those really annoying christmas shows on tv (Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, etc.) You know the shows - the ones that star felt-covered puppets that were manipulated by a man after every camera shot, and then each shot being pasted together to produce less than smooth movements. The one in which Rudolph's nose makes a horrifying, screechy noise each time it lights up. I still haven't figured out whether the other characters in the show can hear it, or if it's just us as the audience? Regardless, it's a childhood memory and I almost feel as though I cheated Christmas if I don't tune in when it airs. Have you noticed that people in the malls are generally filled with anything but the holiday spirit? This is not a happy, joyous time of the year in which we give what we can to the people we love. Christmas is the biggest 'mission' of the year! Get to the mall, buy up everything in sight, and do so with the least amount of casualties. If someone happens to get injured in the battle, you cannot afford to turn back and supply any sort of aid. NO. You must carry on - survival of the fittest! Does that fact that you trampled a 65-year-old man in front of the Salvation Army Donation site, directly in front of the Walmart entrance, cheapen the feeling of joy when you give your sister's neice twice removed the Barbie she wanted? Absolutely not. It's Christmas right? It's all in the giving!
So, my dear readers, I leave you with warm and safe wishes. Hoping that each of you enoy the time spent with family and friends and stays safe in your shopping adventures and travels. Merry Christmas!
